I am Glenda DaleLouise, author of the “Penelope the Pea-Popping Pigeon” book series.
I was born and raised, with two older brothers and a sister, in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California, by parents who valued nature and gave us many opportunities to be a part of it.
Mom was an artist and Dad was a hard-working husband and father. I received my artistic abilities from my mother, and my work ethics from my father. Mom always shared her supplies and knowledge with me and let me express myself through various art projects. Dad instilled in me the desire to work hard for accomplishments I wished to achieve. Dad always had a large garden on our property and taught his children how to work by having us do such things as getting the rocks out of the soil. I have memories as a child eating the peas out of that garden. Guess I was the original Pea-Popping Pigeon!
Some of the best years of my life were raising my own children, and doing homeschooling with them, and other children, for many years. We spent hours and hours doing “Reading Time”, and lots of art projects.
I am now a grandmother to two beautiful teenaged granddaughters. I was privileged to be able to read to them also as they grew up.
I am a simple person, with strong values, who wants to be a part of making the world a better place. My family is my top priority.
I currently live in the family home my parents built from the ground up over seventy years ago and raised us kids in. A river runs through my property, and I am surrounded by mountains and trees. So thankful to be able to live in such a beautiful area and to be able to receive inspiration for my children’s books.
Forever grateful to my parents who gave me so many opportunities and to everyone who reads my books and wants to be a part of my life.
